School Ride Alexa Skill Terms of Use

Effective: August 24, 2026

These Terms govern use of the School Ride Alexa Skill and supplement the general School Ride Terms of Service. By enabling, linking, or using the Skill, you agree to these Terms.

1. Acceptance of these Terms

By enabling, linking, accessing, or using the School Ride Alexa Skill, you agree to these Alexa Skill Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not link or use the Skill and disable it in your Alexa settings.

These Terms supplement the general School Ride Terms of Service. The general terms continue to govern the underlying School Ride account and platform. These Alexa-specific Terms govern the voice experience if there is a subject addressed specifically here.

2. Operator and nature of School Ride

School Ride is operated by YCode Solutions LLC, based in Florida, United States. School Ride is a transportation management platform used by participating transportation companies to coordinate services with parents, guardians, drivers, and schools.

School Ride does not provide transportation directly. The participating transportation company provides and manages transportation services and remains responsible for its operation, drivers, vehicles, routes, schedules, and service decisions.

3. Scope of the Alexa Skill

The Skill is an optional voice interface to limited information and actions available through an eligible School Ride parent account. It does not replace the School Ride app, the transportation company, school communications, or emergency channels.

The Skill responds to supported Alexa requests using information available to School Ride at the time of the request. It does not provide every feature of the School Ride platform.

4. Eligibility and account linking

You must be a parent or guardian with an active School Ride account associated with a participating transportation company. Account Linking is required before Alexa can access family information. The Skill is not intended for direct use by children.

  • Your School Ride user and family relationship must remain active.
  • The applicable company, child, permissions, assignments, and services must remain eligible.
  • You must use an Amazon/Alexa account that you are authorized to use.

5. Authorized use and limited license

Subject to these Terms, YCode Solutions LLC grants you a limited, personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable right to use the Skill for its intended family transportation and School Ride functions. This permission does not transfer ownership of the Skill, platform, content, or technology.

6. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for your use of the Skill and for requests made through Alexa devices or accounts under your control.

  • Protect your School Ride credentials, Amazon account, Alexa devices, and linked-account access.
  • Use only accounts, children, and family profiles you are authorized to access.
  • Keep relevant account and contact information current through the transportation company or available School Ride controls.
  • Review Alexa's confirmation and final response before relying on or creating an absence.
  • Promptly unlink the Skill or notify support if you believe access has been compromised.

7. Supported features

Depending on current implementation and eligibility, the Skill may provide:

  • Current or recent trip and bus status.
  • Estimated arrival time when a reliable estimate is available.
  • Existing absence information and creation of a one-day absence after explicit confirmation.
  • Pending or past-due school transportation payment information.
  • Announcements, important updates, unread company messages, and a family briefing.
  • Whether a published behavior update is available, without speaking sensitive details.
  • QR profile scan counts for an authorized child and requested date, without identifying the scanner.
  • Available School Ride stories and information about platforms where Leo's music is available.

8. Feature and information availability

A linked account does not guarantee that every response or feature is available. Availability depends on the participating company, granted OAuth scopes, active parent or guardian relationships, family permissions, child and service assignments, route activity, enabled services, and the operational data available to School Ride.

A request may return no result when data is unavailable, stale, incomplete, outside the supported time window, or not authorized for that account.

9. Payment information only

The implemented Alexa Skill may report authorized pending or past-due school transportation payment totals. It does not collect card information, initiate a charge, authorize a transaction, or process a payment through Alexa.

To review details or make a payment, use the authorized School Ride payment experience provided by the participating transportation company. Payment obligations, amounts, schedules, disputes, refunds, and service decisions remain subject to the applicable company arrangement and general School Ride terms.

10. Prohibited use

You may not misuse the Skill or related services. Prohibited conduct includes:

  • Accessing or attempting to access another family's information.
  • Sharing, exposing, requesting, intercepting, or attempting to obtain credentials, authorization codes, access tokens, or refresh tokens.
  • Interfering with the Skill, API, account linking, security controls, safety-related functions, or service availability.
  • Using bots, scripts, excessive automated requests, scraping, or other abusive traffic.
  • Reverse engineering, decompiling, bypassing controls, probing for vulnerabilities, or extracting non-public components except where applicable law expressly permits it.
  • Using the Skill for unlawful, fraudulent, harmful, threatening, or unauthorized purposes.

11. Account Linking, unlinking, and revocation

Account Linking authorizes Alexa to use approved School Ride scopes for the linked parent account. You can disable or unlink the Skill through the Alexa app. Where School Ride provides a connected-services control, you may also revoke the Alexa connection there.

Revocation invalidates active access associated with the connection. Unlinking the Skill does not itself cancel transportation service, close the underlying School Ride account, delete company records, or resolve payment obligations. Data handling after unlinking is described in the Alexa Skill Privacy Policy.

12. Transportation status and ETA

Bus, trip, location-related status, and estimated arrival information depend on the most recent operational data received by School Ride. Data can be delayed, incomplete, inaccurate, unavailable, or out of date because of connectivity, device, driver, route, traffic, company, or third-party service conditions.

An ETA is an estimate, not a guarantee of location, pickup, drop-off, route sequence, or arrival time. Always follow the transportation company's official safety and pickup instructions.

13. Not for emergencies

Do not use the Skill for emergencies, urgent safety decisions, student-release authorization, or situations requiring immediate or guaranteed information. Contact the transportation company, school, designated emergency contact, 911, or the appropriate local emergency service as the situation requires.

14. Absence requests

The implemented Skill creates an absence only after an explicit confirmation. You are responsible for listening to the requested child and date, responding accurately to the confirmation, and verifying Alexa's final response.

The current Alexa action supports a one-day absence record. It does not distinguish separate outbound and return ride segments, and it does not create a multi-day cancellation through a single request. An absence record does not guarantee a transportation-company operational change if the record is delayed, unavailable, rejected, or outside the company's process. Contact the company when confirmation or operational handling is uncertain.

15. Privacy

Use of the Skill is also governed by the School Ride Alexa Skill Privacy Policy. It explains the structured Alexa information School Ride receives, Account Linking records, permissions, logging, retention, unlinking, deletion requests, and child-related information.

16. Amazon and Alexa

Amazon Alexa, Alexa devices, Amazon accounts, and related Amazon services are third-party services governed by Amazon's applicable terms and privacy notices. Amazon does not operate School Ride, and YCode Solutions LLC does not operate Alexa.

Alexa is a trademark of Amazon.com, Inc. or its affiliates. References to Alexa describe interoperability and do not state or imply that Amazon sponsors, endorses, or is affiliated with School Ride.

17. Intellectual property

The Skill, School Ride platform, interfaces, branding, software, and materials made available through School Ride are protected to the extent owned by or licensed to YCode Solutions LLC or other rights holders. Stories, Leo content, music references, artwork, and third-party materials may be subject to rights held by YCode Solutions LLC, its licensors, creators, distributors, or platform providers, as applicable.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, sublicense, publicly exploit, or create derivative works from protected materials except with permission from the applicable rights holder or as allowed by law. Third-party names and marks remain the property of their respective owners.

18. Availability, maintenance, and service changes

The Skill may be unavailable during maintenance, outages, provider interruptions, security response, deployments, or changes to School Ride, Alexa, participating-company services, or third-party dependencies. No uninterrupted or error-free availability is promised.

School Ride may add, modify, suspend, or discontinue Skill functions to maintain security, reliability, compatibility, legal compliance, or product operation. Material changes to these Terms will be handled as described below.

19. Suspension and termination

Access may be suspended, revoked, or end when the Skill is disabled or unlinked; the School Ride user, family relationship, company participation, child access, permission, or service becomes inactive; the underlying account closes; security or abuse concerns require restriction; Amazon access is unavailable; or the Skill or applicable company service is discontinued.

Suspension of the Skill does not necessarily terminate the underlying transportation relationship or erase records. The participating company remains responsible for its transportation-service decisions.

20. Disclaimers

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Skill and its information are provided on an “as available” and “as is” basis. School Ride does not promise that every request will be understood, that data will always be current or complete, or that the Skill will be uninterrupted or error-free.

Nothing in these Terms excludes any warranty, right, or obligation that cannot lawfully be excluded. Specific transportation commitments, if any, arise from the participating transportation company rather than from the Alexa Skill.

21. Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by applicable law, YCode Solutions LLC is not responsible for transportation incidents, delays, interruptions, missed pickups or drop-offs, actions or omissions of transportation companies or drivers, inaccurate third-party data, Alexa recognition errors, connectivity failures, or decisions made contrary to the warnings in these Terms.

YCode Solutions LLC does not seek to exclude liability that cannot legally be excluded or limited. These Alexa-specific Terms do not create a separate parent or guardian indemnification obligation.

22. Governing law

The published general School Ride Terms state that the laws of the State of Florida, United States, govern the service terms. These Alexa-specific Terms follow that governing-law provision, subject to any mandatory consumer protections that apply.

These Terms do not add mandatory arbitration, a class-action waiver, or an exclusive venue provision.

23. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms to reflect changes in the Skill, providers, law, security, or service practices. The current version and effective date will be published at this URL. When required, material changes may be communicated through appropriate School Ride or Alexa channels.

Continued use after updated Terms become effective constitutes acceptance to the extent permitted by law. If you do not agree with an update, disable and unlink the Skill.
